WHATS UP TUESDAY?
Sitting here dressed and ready to go and no phone call yet to sub! Kind of like going to the beach in the winter. Plan on rain and if the sun shines it's a bonus. So I plan to work and if I don't get a call soon it's a day off!
Had a great but exhausting weekend at our daughter's. We went over on Friday morning and arrived in time to take the twins, age 3, for their first hair cut. Long scraggly, thin hair is now a cute below chin length bob that swings. Makes them look so grown up!
Went to the park, out to lunch, played on the tire swing, road trikes, read stories, went to a movie. . . . They held up better than we did!
I would not be terribly disappointed if I don't work today. Company arriving on Thursday for a couple of days. My sis in law who has something similar to Parkinson's is coming to visit with one of her daughter's. She hasn't seen our new home and is looking forward to going just about anywhere. Hope the weather is nice. Trying to think of something that we can do that she will enjoy and be able to do.
Sending special thoughts to you all. Life's challenges both for ourselves and those we love really test our "metal" don't they? Take care of yourselves so that you can help those you love who need it.
Take care,
Karen C
As usual, lots going on here in OFFdom. Judy, I'm glad to see you surface again after working so hard! Monica, I loved the new pics on FB. Hope everyone else will forgive me if I can't remember all the details. I read through things kinda fast this morning.
I can barely type because my thumbs are so sore from shelling beans! Owwweee! They'd better toughen up, though, because yesterday was just the first little wave ~~~
I'm up 2 pounds on the scale yesterday and today. I figure it is TOM. Sigh. When does it end? I'll be fifty-freakin'-four years old in less than two weeks. What's wrong with this picture?
Planning a trip to the lake house next week. I'll leave after I pay bills on the 1st and prolly stay about 9 or 10 days. When DH gets home, we're going to be remodeling the guest bath at that house and I need to get in there and strip the wall paper and get as much of that ready as possible. We also bought some new deck furniture last time we were there, and I want to put another coat of poly on it before it spends the summer out-of-doors.
Plus, it means I'll be able to spend my birthday with my kids, and I won't be sitting here alone at my house missing everyone. And I'll get to spend time with my little grandson! Always a big bonus!
Have a wonderful Tuesday!
Vickie!!! Bet those 2 pounds come off you with some friends!!!! You wait and see!!!! ;-)
Sorry that your thumbs are sore though!!! But look at all the beans that you have!!!! NICE!!!! Pinto beans...LOVE them!!!! make them into refried beans and make some tostadas...omg I am in heaven!!!! LOL
You are so lucky to have other places to go to "get away" from it all!!!! But I am here and I LOVE it here!!! You know somethin? Back when I lived in Michigan and we went on vacation I never wanted to go back home...now since I live here in Ohio and Rick and I go places and its time to go home I can't wait to get back!! I guess I finally found HOME!!!! :-)

Yes, it is nice to have a place to get away. Problem is we now have 2 lakehouses, plus our main house. It's crazy. We had already bought a lakehouse on Lake Sam Rayburn, about an hour away from where we live. We were planning to retire there. Then our daughter moved to San Antonio and had a baby, and I just had to have a place to go and stay and visit with her. (She's bipolar and really does need a lot of support to function, especially now with the baby.) San Antonio is a six hour drive from here, so buying another place down near there just made sense. Plus Canyon Lake is so beautiful! I've always wanted to live there.
However, we are now "house poor" and we have to sell at least one of these! But we're trying to hold on and wait for the real estate market to recover a bit. So my husband has to continue to wor****il we're able to do something with our situation here. I'm more than ready for him to retire, but we'll see what the economy does this year.
I've never been to Ohio or Michigan. I hope I can visit that part of the country one day. I know it is beautiful there. Have fun on your vacation!!! How long will you be gone? Hope that bridge is easy to cross! For Rick's sake!
Years ago at the VFW where I lived in Saginaw Michigan they used to have a couple that put on a taco lunch/dinner on saturdays and OMG they did a fantastic job and it was good food!!!! Hank made the beans from scratch and he used the pinto beans so I am guessing they were fresh beans? They were good beans...never ever had any toastadas like they made ever!!!! They have since passed away and I will never have those great tasting foods again... :-(
Yeah I hear you on the housing market...sad to say you would have to about give it away now to sell it!
We will be gone from the 4th through the 11th of June. Should be home before the 11th I am sure but shhh don't tell my work place that...lol On the 11th here they have at the farm park the Working Dogs thing I want to go see. Always had to miss that and now that we are oof we can go see them do their thing! Always took off for the horse show and missed that this year so we could see the dogs instead. Looking forward to seeing them! As for the bridge...LOL its only 5 miles long but for Rick...it might as well be 500 miles because he is scared to death of heights and this bridge is way up there in height so the great lakes freighters can pass under them along with the huge sail boats....it will be an adventure for him I am sure!!! And it was HIS idea to go there not mine....LOL If you want to see it you can look it up online. Mackinawbridge.com I think should take you there. Or Mackinaw City Michigan will get you there as well. It is a beautiful area....GOD's country up there!!!

At one point, though, right along the Ohio turnpike, I saw a HUGE rainbow - the full arc, with all the colors. It was amazing.
The weekend was wonderful - got to wake up to 3 of my grandchildren each morning, hugged my son and gave him an early birthday present, and saw my son in law's company (and his photos) in Fortune magazine!
I also took out a chair that my mom had asked me to pass along to her if I ever wanted to move it out of the house - she needed a replacement, and we are starting to whittle down on the "stuff" in the house so it was a win both ways.
So....a great visit, got home safely, and now have a few hours to decompress. Getting a hair trim later in the day, then back to work tomorrow.
Take care everyone!
I was sitting at ohare all day yesterday. We took off late. I almost missed my connection to sarasota in 'atlanta. I made it by the skin of my teeth'!!!!!!!! We at on the tarmac at ohare for 2 hours before delta would let us take off. It was because of bad weather in boston. turbulance all thru the south comming to atlanta. We had to reroute the plane from
chicago. It went west to arkansas south then west to atlanta took 3 hours then change planes and got home at the same time it was supposed to. Im exhausted but have to work today.
I hope my trip to denver wont be as exhausting in t weeks.
well have to go more later.
